Evaluation - Question 4

Who would be the audience for your media product?
The audience for my media would be young adults (male and female) of all races, due to the fact the film would be rated a 15 and therefore would not obviously be appropriate for a younger audience to watch the film. I would hope to address both males and females to watch the film because despite the fact that Divine Decree has many female characters within it the storyline may be seen as relatively screamish/scary to young girls who may be more towards watching love films! Young men generally tend to watch films with young pretty females within it due to the fact they may be attracted to them in opposition to watching a male orientated horror film, and despite the stereotype of a typical female being love films I have found that many females enjoy watching horror/thrillers too. I would hope to attract both genders from the age of 15 upwards aiming towards the younger generation due to the fact that young couples tend to watch horror films together and so do groups of young people due to the fact they have time to do so and also because its more fun watching as a group in opposition to on your own! Sleep overs and girls/boys nights in are also very common among younger age groups and therefore this would be a convinient film to watch then, as not only is it entertaining there is also a moral behind the storyline.

I think that Divine Decree would attract typical young teenage girls due to the fact they can relate to the girls within the film - obviously because they are of around the same age group and may have witnessed or been part of this situation before, either just watching, bullying or being bullied - a strong relationship and bond may then be felt with members of the audience and also may deter other people from bullying people, or even make victims stand up for themselves however not in the way portrayed within the film.

Divine Decree would attract audiences who demographically like being kept on edge and enjoy tense and scary films and for those who to an extent enjoy being frightened!  They would enjoy films such as Sorority Row, Cabin Fever, Friday the 13th, The final Etc, and enjoy TV programmes involving mystery such as CSI, the Bill, Eastenders ... They would listen to many genres of music - Heavy Rock, R & B, Indie, Hip Hop and just all music in general. Their interests would be parties, relaxing, gym, sleepovers and just generally being with friends and family - typical young people.

As demonstrated above Thriller/Horror had quite a significant number of rentals within 2009 and therefore shows a there is a relatively wide target audience range however not as wide as comedy due to the fact that family's many not be inclined to rent a horror movie due to the variation of ages.

Audience Feedback

I think that all the feedback written here are relevant and valid points in relation to my film opening, I appreciate the constructive feed back and i also think like as Tom & Katie said that a few more effects such as more invert or solarise and even slow motion would have made my film opeing more effective and in a sense more paranormal, however I did want to make my film seem as realistic as possible as i think it keeps the audiences attention more, as they can relate to the characters. I also can understand why the beginning of the film opening may not be to clear to some people, however i think that once the opening has played for a little longer everything starts falling into place, i wanted to keep the beginning as mysterious as i could to keep the audience interested.

I too think that the music went with the genre very well, and if i was to remake this film again i would know to possibly add more effects and also to maybe add a voice over to the beginning of the footage to make it clearer.
