Evaluation - Question 3

The name of my production company is Darknight Producions, I chose this company name as it is ironik to the horror style films that the company would produce and also due to the fact that when it is dark at night people would much prefer to be at home watching a film, my logo for this was just a half moon as a D, and following from this the other letters to the production name. I wanted to keep the logo simple as  i feel its more effective and easier to remember.

Within the media industries production companies are very important and always named within the opening titles of the film or before the film starts and is therefore important tha t i use this within my media project.


Production companies are very important within the media and film industries, and are responsible for the films and ideas they wish to produce. The production companies are also responsible for the funding of the project however they also deal with things such as hiring extras, dealing with legal issues and also editing the film. They are involved in producing either live or recorded entertainment and then help with the funding, facilitating and distribution of the film.


Production companies heavily rely on fundings from the film production house, they may also be funded by the Uk film council or the national lottery. Some production companies build up a good reputation with the actors/actresses which therefore mean that some are generous enough to add their own funding towards making the film. THe Uk film council has been running for 10 years and contributes more that 4 million pounds to UK GDP. They have helped fund films such as Fish Tank, Red Road, Man on Wire, Adulthood, Valiant, Harry Brown, This is England, they are winners of over 300 awards and im sure they would be a good company to help fund Divine Decree. 

A distributer a section within the film industry who ensure that the film gets out to the public, they market and advertise the new product to ensure that there is as much possibility to get into the eye of the public as possible this is an important part of the film industry due to the fact if they did not exsist none of the films produced would be veiwed! Some examples of Popular reliable film distributers are: Columbia Pictures,E1 Entertainment, Momentum Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures, Paramount Pictures UK, Lions Gate UK, 20th Century Fox Film, Universal pictures etc. all of these distribution companies are very popular and reliable. 


There are many people named within the film openings mainly due to the fact that certain actors/production companies and studios build up a good reputation for themselves and therefore people have a more positive impression or visualization of what the film is going to be like and are therefore more likely to continue watching. I have used the order in which most companies choose to present these named titles due to the fact that it promotes a hint of professionalism about my opening and also is in a logical order. 


Institutionally my film is similar to a variety of other films in the market - due to the horror genre, and therefore would probably be released in a way that Lionsgate films and twisted pictures have released the saw films, I would also release it in the way that summit entertainment released Sorority Row as there are both within the horror genre and have influenced me widely during this project.
